How To Promote Your Music On YouTube

Have you ever seen a music video on YouTube?  I’ll bet you have.  How many of your songs have you posted on Youtube?  It’s really simple to do.  Just think about it… it has to be easy.  If it was hard to do, there wouldn’t be tens of thousands of idiots (along with some smart people) posting millions of videos there every day.  Get started promoting your music by putting a video on YouTube. It’s free and it’s the perfect way to showcase your talent.

You can post as many videos as you like.  Start out by picking one song that will grab viewers’ attention. Yes, that’s right… post your best stuff.  At this point in history, if you are going to get all hot and bothered because your song may get downloaded and ’stolen’ by some fan, you may as well just hang up your rock n roll shoes and go work in a factory.  Music promotion in todays world means giving stuff away.

If the song is good, the quality of the visuals is secondary. That being said, you want to do the best job you can because people will rate your work. Also, you want to create a buzz (which could get the attention of the media), so do something that will stand out.  Use tags - those are the keywords people may use to find your videos.  Link back to your website.  Superimpose your band name and website right on the video.

You need to create a YouTube account.  Like I said above, it’s easy, so I’m not going to explain it here.  If you have questions, leave a comment and we’ll answer it for everyone.  You can even take a look at the help section. It answers pretty much any question you may have about uploading your video. You can put your YouTube video on your website or social networking page.  It’s about the easiest way to put a video on your site, and you don’t have to worry about using up your bandwidth.

We’ve talked about finding your niche and this is an example of why that is important. People search according to interest, so use keywords.  Things like your musical style, similar bands, your band name, or anything else that may hit the hearts of your fans.  That’s how new fans will find you.

Millions of people all over the world watch YouTube. It’s an easy way to reach out to new listeners and to give a treat to those who already appreciate your work.
