Should You Promote Your Music 365 Days a Year?

Promoted your music lately?  Here we are, 3 weeks into the new year, and what the heck have you done?  Are you ready to get your music career going? Then what are you waiting for?

Guess what… do nothing, and that’s exactly what you’ll get back.  If you want to make it in the music biz, you’ve got to take action.  The more action you take to promote your music, the more results you’ll see.

Believer it or not, this is a great time to be involved with music. Why? Because the economy is in the toilet and the established music industry is just another part of what’s being flushed into the sewer.  The field is wide open for new ideas and self promotion… not to mention new bands with energy and drive.

Don’t wait for everything to settle because you want to see how it’s going to turn out.  It’s the people that take action when things are changing that end up in the best positions.  Once things settle, that’s when it’s hard to break in. When everyone is secure in their jobs and they have a definite direction for the future of the music industry, they are less open to anything new and they will stick with the plan in hopes of controlling talent and keeping their jobs just like they’ve done for the last 20 years.

Start planning your success, by doing one thing a day towards it. Are you working on a song that you know will be it a hit? Finish it today. Have you finished that song that’s sure to be a hit? Create a MySpace account and put it on your new page. Create a video and throw it on Youtube, Google Video, and 20 other video sites.  Put up a blog.  Create a real website.  Put your press kit together. Plan a gig.

That’s just 7 things.  Each could be done in 1 day.  That’s just one weeks worth of tasks to promote your music, and, like I said we are already 3 weeks into the new year.  If you’ve done that much, congratulations.  I really admire that you are doing something.  Unfortunately, 99.9% of the people have done either one thing or nothing.  Guess which group is going to make it to the top with their music?

More posts and articles are coming that will go into detail about marketing your music or your band. But for now, read over the existing posts on musicmarketingcenter.com and you’ll get all sorts of ideas on how to promote your music and to get you moving.

Do it right now! Tomorrow is too darn late cause that band down the street started promoting their music yesterday!
